Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This page is a plain-language summary of how refunds and cancellations work for ValidDraft's paid Author plan. The full, governing text lives in Section 9 (Subscriptions & Payment Terms) of our Terms of Service; if anything here appears to conflict with the Terms, the Terms control.
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. Approved refunds are issued through Dodo Payments, normally back to the payment method used for the original purchase.
1. 14-Day Refund on Your First Purchase
If you are unsatisfied, you can request a refund within 14 days of your initial subscription purchase. The refund is the amount you paid less the pro-rata value of any verification credits you have already consumed in that period.
Requests made after the 14-day window, or relating to subsequent billing cycles (renewals), are evaluated case by case and are not guaranteed.
Because access to paid features begins immediately when you subscribe, you acknowledge that starting to use the Service may affect any statutory withdrawal right you would otherwise have under applicable law.
2. How to Request a Refund
Email hello@sotolis.com from the address associated with your account, and tell us the date of the charge you are asking about. We aim to respond to every refund request promptly.
3. Cancelling Your Subscription
You can cancel at any time from your account settings - no email or phone call required. After you cancel:
- Your paid plan benefits stay active until the end of your current billing period
- No further renewal charges are made
- When the period ends, your account reverts to the Free tier and your monthly credits reset to Free-tier allocations
Cancelling does not by itself trigger a refund for the current period; refunds are governed by the windows described above.
4. Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, your subscription is marked past due and we may retry the charge. If payment still cannot be collected, your account may be downgraded to the Free tier after a 7-day grace period. Your certificates and data are unaffected by a downgrade.
5. Other Situations Where Refunds Apply
Separate from the standard windows above, the Terms of Service commit us to pro-rata refunds of the unused portion of your current billing period in specific situations, including:
- We discontinue a feature specifically associated with your paid plan without a reasonably equivalent replacement, and you choose to cancel (Terms Section 3)
- The Service ceases operations (Terms Section 12)
- We terminate your account without cause (Terms Section 16)
Accounts terminated for violating the Terms (for example, attempting to game the verification system) are not entitled to a refund.
